Well many new moms say “if we did have that extra time to ourselves, we would sleep.” You may not choose exercising and keeping in shape to be one of your priorities. However, it is a fact that the healthier you are, the better you will feel which makes a happy mom. Each baby needs a happy mom and dad.
Exercises in the form of walk, yoga, meditations, running, stretching are relaxing. It calms the mind, the nerves and makes you feel rejuvenated – which is much needed as a new parent. Energy levels increase, keeping you feeling fit and in a positive state of mind. An exercised body gets good sleep too.
What are the basic exercises one can do alongside the baby?
- Walk with your baby
You and your baby both need fresh air. Buckle your baby in a sturdy stroller and walk at the nearest park, or strap your baby on your chest and walk. If you are a jogger, you can push the stroller while you jog. Babies usually fall asleep during movement.
- Post natal exercises
Join a group of new moms and their babies. Make it a routine to exercise together to keep up the motivation. Post natal exercises strengthen your core muscles and back.
- The Stairs
If you have someone to watch your baby for 15 minutes a day, use that time to walk stairs or run stairs. It will help you burn fat, keep you feeling stronger and in a positive frame of mind. Instead of taking the elevator, take the stairs.
You can squat all you want, while your baby is playing, sleeping or busy with other family. You can free squat, however if you do have a back or knee problem, please avoid it or do it in the presence of instructions of a professional.
If you have no time, put on some music and dance. Its fun, it’s free and your baby will love watching you.
This is a very relaxing form of exercise.
However, before starting any form of physical activity, it is important to check with your doctor to avoid damages to the body or wear and tear.
